Hixon Dance joins forces with award-winning poet Maggie Smith to present an intimate evening of original dance, live new music, and poetry. Based on six of Smith's compelling works, the dance explores sororal and maternal relationships, how we respond to grief, the way we create shelter through our experiences, and how the past shapes our perspective of the world.

This work is one of the most personal created by director Sarah Hixon. As a daughter, sister, and mother, she has delved deeply into her personal experiences of relationship and loss to portray a profoundly human story.

Original commissioned music by local composers Jacob Reed and Lauren Spavelko will be performed live by Paul Melcher (piano), Jenna Hunnicutt (mezzo soprano), Sean Ferguson (theorbo), and Chelsea Hart-Melcher (soprano). Dramaturgy by playwright Chris Leyva.
