Organ Recital with Scott Turkington

Scott Turkington, Director of Sacred Music at the Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe in La Crosse, will offer two organ concerts this year, July 9th and October 15th, both at 3:00pm. A native of Minneapolis, Scott has spent the majority of his life on the East Coast and has returned to the Midwest, now devoting his work to our beautiful Shrine. A teacher, conductor and organ recitalist, he has played concerts all over the U.S., perhaps enjoying none more than the magnificent Noack organ in the Shrine.

This concert will feature music of the young J. S. Bach, a charming sonata by his son C. P. E. Bach, a popular piece by a famous composer of Notre-Dame in Paris (Louis Vierne), a very young Jean Alain (tragically killed in WWI), and a new work by the also-famous and current organist/composer of Notre-Dame, Olivier Latry. Mr Nathan Romportl, guest tenor, will be the soloist for two of the works. The concert is free and open to all.
