Foreigners in Brazil - how does it feel?

Postitatud Brasiilia foorum

I'm living in Germany and we're having quite some discussions how it feels to live as a foreigner in Germany.

Just out of curiosity - how does it feel to live a foreigner in Brazil? I can't tell, I'm from Brazil myself ;O)

    Dear Gitti,

At first the fact that you do not speak Portuguese will not be a problem. The Brazilians are very receptive, but few speak fluent English. Spanish is intelligible to us, but not perfectly understood everywhere you go.
The permanent visas are very easy to get.
Our language, although considered more complex, is easy to learn, unlike the Icelandic for example, and in three months living here, you already get a good understanding of it.
I advise you to seek ways to work here in your area, since you intend to live here permanently. There is plenty of room in Brazil for skilled labor.
Choose the better region in Brazil for you, in which you want to live. There are many regional differences.
The south of the country is more industrialized, has milder weather, like the European, and was widely populated by European immigrants in recent centuries.

    Graciously

    Guilherme

Hi Jonah! Brazil is a very welcoming country,we welcome everybody here with our arms wide open! And honestly,I don't know if this is good or bad, since we brazilians have lots of difficulties when moving to another country, like the US or some country in Europe. But in general, life in brazil it's great for foreigners.for example,my city is great for those who work in the real state area. You should think about if your career has oportunities in sao paulo, and think about the pros and cons, like the cost of living, the health sistem (you'll have to look for health insurance cause our public health sistem sucks!)
    Anyway,hope I helped you,and good luck!

    Hi Gitti!
In my opnion you should really think more about coming here as an au pair, because it is not a valued job here, and it's not well paid :/ And the language may be a problem, because it's not everybody who speaks spanish here.
maybe you should come do a portuguese language course, along with an internship in the area you wanna work! I think that will be more interesting for your future career, and you'll be learning a new language!

Hi, I'm Beatrice and I would like to move to Florianopolis, from italy, to look for a job.
I use to work as receptionist in hotels in Rome and in different italian Tour Operators, the problem is that I'm learning brasilian portuguese, I only know bad words now=)!

I will accept any suggestion about searching a job in restaurants or something similar , I've never been there but i have a brasilian friend who lives in Rome that speaks me so good of this place.I would like to move for an holiday first, and then in October for a longer time.

    Thanks friends!
