We would like to invite you to a new edition of the Kletskoppen Child Language Festival, taking place on 29th February in the Central Library De Mariënburg in Nijmegen. Language researchers of Radboud University and the Max Planck Institute for Psycholinguistics will show you in a playful way how language works.

During this science day, families can bring children from two to twelve years old to play language games. These fun games include bilingual audio-memory, stepping inside a gigantic ear, mouth and brain to see how they work, try an eye-tracker, go on a bear hunt and discover the meaning of words while dancing, or follow a crash course in Chinese, Russian, or Spanish.

Besides all these kinds of interactive demonstrations for the children, parents have the opportunity to ask any questions they might have. Experts in the fields of language acquisition and development and multilingual education are ready to give advice and share their knowledge. For the youngest children there are (multilingual) book readings, a programme with sing-along songs from around the globe and crafting activities.

The festival opens with Dikkie Dik en de taart, a small, atmospheric musical performance, with lots of opportunities to sing a long and shout. We also have performances of Tineke Honingh, children’s book writer and illustrator for Freek Vonk and Donald Duck, of Pim Lammers, the youngest winner of a Zilveren Griffel for his book Het lammetje dat een varken is, and of Pieter Koolwijk, known from his books Prutje and Bens boot and his stories about Vlo and Stiekel.

Children up to and including twelve years old, (grand)parents, teachers and students are all very welcome on this day. A lot of the activities are also open for non-Dutch speakers.
Entrance is free! For more information, see www.kletskoppenfestival.nl.

We hope to see you at the festival!
