Eun-Ok Im, PhD, MPH, RN, CNS, FAAN and her colleagues at School of Nursing, University of Pennsylvania are conducting a research study to test the effectiveness of an online physical activity promotion program among Korean American midlife women.
You may be eligible to participate in this research study if you are a Korean woman aged 40 to 60 years: (a) who was born in South Korea or in the U.S.; (b) whose parents and grandparents were of Korean descent; (c) who can read and write English or Korean; (d) who currently resides in the U.S.; and (e) who has access to the Internet.
Data will be collected through the Internet from February to August, 2015. Methods for data collection include an Internet survey of 50 Korean women at three times. Depending on the group that you are randomly assigned, you may or may not be asked to use the online program.
If you are assigned to the group who is asked to use the program, your involvement will consist of the following: (a) you will be asked to fill out the questionnaire at three times and about 30 minutes are usually needed to complete the Internet survey questionnaire at each time; and (b) you will be asked to use the online program for 3 months. The minimum number of usages of the program for reimbursement of participation will be 10 times of usage per person by the end of the first month, 20 times by the end of the 2nd month, and 30 times by the end of the 3rd months.
If you are assigned to the group who is not asked to use the program, you will be asked to fill out the questionnaire at three times, and about 30 minutes are usually needed to complete the Internet survey questionnaire at each time.
