The Big Band Bash is the Alaska Aviation Museum's community-oriented gala, aimed towards bringing the magic of Golden Age Aviation to Anchorage. Modern aviation in Alaska can trace its roots to the mid-twentieth century: the age of swing music and big bands, streamlined and chrome-laden automobiles, and glitzy propeller-driven airliners. Attendees are transported back eighty years with a night of live music, photo opportunities with vintage vehicles, and period correct costumes. This event features a delicious dinner, silent and live auction, and dance contest.
