Led by photographer Anthony Palmer, this architectural photo walk will explore London’s Creekside locality before looking in detail at the Stirling Prize winning Laban Dance Centre.

Join us for this architecture photography walk that will explore London’s Creekside locality before looking in detail at the RIBA award-winning Laban Dance Centre. The first piece of architecture to be built in London by Herzog and de Meuron, the Laban Building is also the largest purpose-built dance centre in the world. This iconic building, best known for its façade that displays a spectrum of colours, won the Stirling Prize in 2003 and is one building in a body of work that led the architects to win the Royal Gold Medal in 2007.

You will begin the day by looking at some of the important reference points within the RIBA Library Collections before travelling to Deptford for a guided tour from Deptford Bridge along the fascinating Creekside area and onto the Laban Dance Centre. You will explore the building and landscape, the changing post-industrial context and consider the role architecture and arts have as a starter for regeneration.

Led by experienced photographer Anthony Palmer, throughout the day you will be challenged to capture lasting images that incorporate your ideas and understanding of this iconic building and the changing urban landscape that surrounds it. The day will finish with a chance to review and discuss your photographs.

Suitable for students and adults aged 18 and over.
