We live in a world where war, xenophobia and displacement have become common and unsurprising topics. It is easy for us to dismiss and ignore what is not close to home, but what happens on the other side of the world could very much be a reality to us, and that is when it becomes clear that no matter where one is from, we are all the same.
The collection ‘Atlas of Beauty’ aims to capture the beauty in different ethnicities and bring them together, and show that the essence of beauty is unity in variety.
The beauties each have a circular shape in different sizes and positions on their cheek, a recognitive feature which also integrates the collection together. Patterns, prints and shapes are featured to represent the ethnicity of each portrait.
Metallic backgrounds, high gloss finishes and a bold red canvas edge further unify the beauties - reaffirming the idea that although people all over the world may seem so different, we are really one and the same.
