Beethoven & Brahms - Season Opening Concert

Brahms - Season Opening Concert conducts by Brian Schembri

Although they never met in person, Beethoven and Brahms
have always been closely associated through their musical
styles. Under the baton of Brian Schembri, the orchestra
will be joined by highly acclaimed Maltese pianist Charlene
Farrugia to perform Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 4.
Brahms’ Third Symphony was well received at its premiere
and a leading music critic at the time, Eduard Hanslick,
commented that “Many music lovers will prefer the titanic
force of the First Symphony; others, the untroubled charm
of the Second, but the Third strikes me as being artistically
the most nearly perfect”.
