Join us for Chicago’s first iconic 5K Walk and Run celebrating the legacy of Italian Beef in Chicago. Some like it hot and choose a 5K run with an intense pepper filled beef while others take a milder approach with a dipped walk along Chicago’s lakefront.

Any way you slice-it, the CHItalian Beef 5K delivers a scenic walk/run and delectable beef sandwiches from iconic Al’s and Buona and Al’s Beef. All participants receive a dri-fit race shirt, a taste of Chicago’s iconic beef, timed race bib and a beef inspired race medal.

Charity: JDRF is a nonprofit 501 organization that funds type 1 diabetes research and advocates for regulation favorable to medical research and that makes it easier to market new medical devices. It was formerly called the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.

Parking: Parking will be available for free along the streets, but are first come, first serve. There is a parking lot across the street from Montrose Harbor where you can park at a small fee per hour. 

5K Swag: All 5K participants will receive a dri-fit shirt, a beef-shaped 5K finisher medal, and a juicy Italian Beef Sandwich. 

Awards: The top 3 Male & Female Finishers in each age group in the 5K RUN ONLY receive a customized award. Age groups are as follows: 10 and under, 11-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70+. The awards ceremony will take place at 10:30 a.m. at Montrose Harbor.

Pre-race packet pick-up is at Road Runner Sports Chicago (1435 N Kingsbury St, Chicago, IL 60642). Race day packet pick-up will be available at Montrose Harbor.
