Leopold Square welcomes UK’s longest-running folk festival

Leopold Square in Sheffield is inviting folk lovers from across the city to visit the luxury leisure destination, on Saturday 24th February, in celebration of the annual Inter Varsity Folk Festival.

Leopold Square in Sheffield is inviting folk lovers from across the city to visit the luxury leisure destination, on Saturday 24th February, in celebration of the annual Inter Varsity Folk Dance Festival.

First launched in 1951, the festival is the longest-running folk event in the UK and has already visited Sheffield nine times - more than any other city.

From 11am until 1pm Leopold Square will welcome a variety of dance groups from across the UK including Black Hart, Maekeney Morris, Brighton Morris, Leeds Morris and more, to entertain crowds with a variety of traditional dances.

The square is part of a wider day of dance happening across Sheffield city centre as part of the festival, which also includes concerts, workshops and ceilidhs at Sheffield Students’ Union.
