Hi!
I am Austrian and am living in Belgium since 3 years.
The first 2 years were pretty ok, I tried to give Belgium and myself some time to adapt to each other. But unfortunaly that didn't work out very well. It is very hard to find friends here. I often proposed some activities (see a jazz concert, drinking coffee, taking a walk in the city or in the woods...) but either people prefer staying at home or I see them once and they never call back. I don't understad that at all. It cannot be me, because I never had this problem before and I travelled a lot during my life. I am a very open and social person. So finally I just had to accept that people here are rather lazy and prefer to spend their times with people they already know from childhood. Some told me that they are not interested in investing their time to see somebody who they might never be friends with or that they are scared to make friends with people they don't know. That's really sad and I will have to find some foreign friends. I am very frustrated and disappointed in this culture.
