The 25th Annual Run For The Refuge is a fundraiser hosted by The Northern Alaska Environmental Center. This year we have opted to create an event that is accessible to everyone by hosting a virtual event! Anyone, regardless of age and accessibility, is encouraged to go outside and connect to the outdoors - by running, walking, cycling, or paddling your own 5K or 10K in recognition of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge.

Join the NAEC anytime from July 16th to 18th to celebrate and promote the protection of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, the largest wildlife refuge in the U.S., which serves as home to a biodiverse ecosystem and sacred land to the Gwich'in and Inupiat people. The Arctic Refuge currently faces vulnerable times where protection and awareness are crucial. The NAEC would appreciate your support to help us carry out our continued efforts to protect the Arctic Refuge.

Participants who register for The Run For The Refuge receive event T-shirts, pictured on our website. Registrants are also eligible to win prizes, regardless of location; this year the NAEC is highlighting the diversity of our community by awarding prizes for unique ways of taking part, such as best event ensemble, youngest or oldest participants, farthest from the Arctic Refuge, and more!

Special Thanks to Florian Schulz who provided photos pictured above.
