Island Peak(6,165m/20,226ft), also known as ImjaTse in Nepali -offers a superb panorama of the Khumbu area from its summit. It faces Nuptse and the 8000m peaks Lhotse, Lhotse Middle and Lhotse Shar. On the summit, climbers can spot the Cho Polu (6.734mt.) rising above the frozen waves of the Lhotse Shar glacier. Furthermore, if the weather conditions permit, Mt.Makalu (8,475m) is visible to the East.
Island Peak is an excellent way to venture into altitudes above 6000m without great technical difficulty. Thanks to its location, the acclimatization to the altitude can be easily accomplished through a trek to Everest Base Camp or any other trek in the region. It is a great add-on activity for the adventure seeker.
Outline Itinerary
Day 01: Leisure dayshopping in Kathmandu. Fair well celebration dinner with culture program in the Evening.
Day 02: Transfer to the airport for final departure
Day 15: Arrival at Kathmandu airport, Transfer to request hotel accommodation in Kathmandu (1350M/4,430ft)
Day 16: Preparation and briefings at the departments of tourism. Last minute shopping.
Day 17: Flight from Kathmandu to Lukla. Trek to Phakding (2650m/8,694ft) 4 hrs.Lodge accommodation
Day 18: Trek from Phakding to Namche Bazaar (3440m/11,286ft) 6hrs. Lodge accommodation
Day 19: Rest day for acclimatization.You will be hike to the famous Everest View Hotel (3800m/12487ft) 3hrs and catch a glimpse of Everest. After you can explore Hilary and Sherpa museum in Namche.In the evening they have a slide show program as well.
Day 20: Trek from Namche Bazaar to Tengboche (3850m/12,631ft) 5-6 hrs. Visit the Buddhist monastery. Lodge accommodation
Day 21: Trek from Tengboche to Dingboche (4350m/14271ft) 4hrs.Catch a glimpe of Mt. Ama Dablam and Mt. Lhotse. Lodge accommodation
Day 22: Acclimatization in Dingboche(4350m/14,271ft) hiking up to Chhukung-re
Day 23: Trek from Dingboche to Chhukung (4730m/15,518ft) 3hrs. Lodge accommodation
Day 24: Trek from Chhukung to Island Peak base camp (5087m/16,690ft) Camping
Day 25: Climb to Island Peak (6165m/20,226)15hrs.Camping
