Hi from Perth Australia - over 35s in Queenstown?

Hi I'm from Perth Western Australia but looking at the possibility to move to Queenstown/Wanaka area in the near future, Just wondering how difficult it is to find work & meet people over 35? I love hiking, biking & nature - I absolutely fell in love last year when I holidayed in NZ & would LOVE to get over & have a change in pace for a couple of years but being 40 I worry about moving alone & therefore meeting people my age/being accepted ( I'm assuming the majority of people will be 20s) & obviously finding stable work. My background is in Fundraising & Events with very strong administration/database management skills , event coordination, finance, & experience in retail & customer service. I'd love to get over there & meet some great people do things with & if I do I want to get a car to sightsee & go hiking etc. Anyone have any tips or advice?
