Song of the Angels: A Concert of Sacred Music

The Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe will present a concert of Sacred Music titled "Song of the Angels" in honor of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Music of many periods in history will be represented, played on strings, trumpet, organ, marimba, and sung by choir and soloists. Presented in the style of a "prism concert," each piece will be performed in immediate succession, emanating from different parts of the Shrine church, with its magnificent acoustics. From Gregorian chant (1st millennium) to Bach (18th century) to LaRocca (21st century), music in honor of, or addressed to Our Lady will culminate in a new Latin hymn to Our Lady of Guadalupe, specially commissioned for this concert, and set to a 13th century melody from Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris.
