How hard is to get around in Cape Verde?

Hi all,

I plan to do some island-hopping during my vacation in Cape Verde. I heard that you shouldn¡t take the timetables in Cape Verde too seriously :-) Boats can depart ahead of schedule or flights can easily be posponed until next day... Since I need to plan my vacation there in advance, I would like to know, how serious is this? Should I count everytime with big buffer time? :-)
