After an absence of two years, Billericay gets set for its most popular free Christmas event
The countdown is on for one of the most popular events in Essex - Billericay Christmas Market is returning on December 5.
David Randall, who heads the Billericay Mayflower Rotary team organising the event said: "The Market is a big, FREE attraction not just for the town's families, but for folk coming in by bus, train and car from surrounding areas." Free parking too, at Sun Corner.
Family and friends can meet to enjoy the Christmassy atmosphere and visit a wide variety of stalls, over a hundred and fifty of them, as well as local shops and businesses. It all starts at 11am, with Santa's parade headed by the town crier and a large pipe band, with Mayflower's Rotary colleagues from Brentwood providing Santa's grand sleigh. Santa will be found in his grotto, in the new Town Council offices in Chantry Way.
There will be a wide variety of food and drink on offer from High Street restaurants and stalls.
A whole array of sponsors for this charity event will help to keep the cost down for visiting families, there'll be a face painter, balloon modelling, an old favourite, Punch and Judy, and gifts from Santa himself. Street entertainers and flash mobs from local dance schools will help to provide the party atmosphere that has become a feature of possibly the most popular event of the Billericay year.
