Labor Day weekend delivers a little extra excitement this year, as South Shore Conservatory (SSC) presents The Big Reveal, 24 hours of virtual performances, from Sunday, September 6 at 6 pm, to Monday, September 7 at 6 pm. The free performance marathon, a celebration of SSC's 50th anniversary and its role as a community school for the arts, concludes with a final live streamed concert in SSC's Hingham Cox Hall.

The Big Reveal is the brainchild of South Shore Conservatory President Karen Geer, who took over SSC's leadership reins on June 1. Geer along with Joe Collymore of Harbor Media, plan to be the emcees for this extravagant event, which looks back at where SSC has been, spotlights where SSC is today, and forecasts what is yet to come for the organization.
"One of the reasons I was excited to take over SSC's leadership was the quality of the music of the faculty and the musicians of the South Shore. Most of them are active educators and performers," said Geer. "I cannot think of a better way to honor their contribution to the community than by featuring their talents in a big way."
Performances include something for the whole family, starting on Sunday with a bedtime sing-along music by SSC Youth Chorus director Peter Mundt, moving on to performances by Duxbury Music Festival faculty and students, and soothing dinner music. Later in the evening SSC's Juli Finn hosts an open mic, and rock band hour features popular SSC bands such Not Today, Yardsale, and Toast. The 11 pm dance hour features a disco and funk band.
