The Sales to School Project
A Yardsale to raise funds to provide Educational support to some select underprivileged children of Widows
THE Sales to School Project: an overview
Hi, my name is Mayowa Adegbile, founder of Ashake Foundation. For the past three years we have been supporting Widows in Abuja and particularly the children of these widows.
In 2015, we started a project called #SalesToSchool. This idea was birthed out of the need of increasing the number of children we provide Educational supplies which includes school bags, complete textbooks, notebooks, stationaries and for some of them, school fees.
Last year, we collected both new and used household items that are in great condition. We cleaned them and made them fit to be sold. On the 19th of September 2015, we went to the Millennium Park and sold those items at ridiculous rates and with the proceeds we were able to buy complete school materials for 20 kids.
Other ways we used to help the kids was through cash donations and some people gave us textbooks that were relatively new and in good condition. This helped us greatly such that at the end of the day, we were able to donate complete #Back2School materials for 40 children. The children were elated. .
.In 2016, we want to increase our capacity.
This year we intend to increase to 100 children and could increase as donations come in. .
We need your help. For those that want to make financial donations, we have three categories of sponsorship
1. School Fees per term: N3000
2. Textbooks and Notebooks: N4000
3. Textbook and notebook including School fees: N7000
We need volunteers that can work on the day to help us sell the goods and also social media savvy individuals that can help spread the message of the project to increase awareness and get more nationwide support.
