1- Flocculation and Coagulation Method

In order to remove the turbidity, color, algae, and other microorganisms from the surface of the water, the water softening plant uses flocculation and coagulation methods. Some of the most common coagulants that are used for treating water include ferric and aluminum sulfate. Based on the raw quality, coagulants are mixed in a solution at a definite rate. The coagulation method helps in reducing time by effectively removing the particles and the suspended solids. This method is very effective in removing bacteria, protozoa, and viruses that are present in the water.

2- Sedimentation

The process of sedimentation is done in large storage tanks and it can be done to minimize the flow of water. it is one of the most effective methods for removing solids and turbidity in suspension and this process takes quite a bit time in nature.

3- Filtration

With the help of slow sand and gravel filters algae, and turbidity that is present in raw water can be easily removed. Yedao further added that based on the speed of filtration, there are two types of filtration process used which includes rapid and slow sand filtration. Rapid filtration is a physical treatment procedure, whereas slow sand filtration is a biological process. There are also several small plants that do not have the option of buying large filtration process.
