Author Meet and Greet with Chris Van Dusen

Join beloved Maine author and illustrator Chris Van Dusen on the very island that inspired his new picture book, Big Truck Little Island! On Tuesday, August 23 from 10:30am–12:30 we will gather under the tent on the lawn across from the Vinalhaven Public Library library (corner of East Main and Carver Street) to celebrate this special book. Hear Chris read aloud and talk about his book, purchase a copy of Big Truck Little Island for signing, and join a Chris Van Dusen readathon! Guests are welcome to bring a blanket to sit on beneath the tent.

This event is free and open to the public; proceeds from book sales at this event will benefit Island Readers and Writers (IRW) and the Vinalhaven Public Library.

This event is co-sponsored by the Vinalhaven Public Library and Island Readers and Writers (IRW). IRW is a nonprofit based in Southwest Harbor, ME, with a mission is to inspire a passion for reading and learning in children living on Maine's coastal islands and in rural Washington County. Chris Van Dusen is a longtime friend of IRW, who helped him launch his first Vinalhaven-inspired book, The Circus Ship, in 2009 with a tour of 10 Maine islands.
