Comedy Crash Course

With the 2021 Funny Women Awards season here, our next Comedy Crash Course we'll be focussing on writing, to get you ‘match fit' ready to enter the Comedy Writing Award, or writing the script for your Comedy Short. Featuring an hour a day of expert coaching and guidance from brilliant industry experts and a showcase on Friday.

This course provides tailored tips and advice to help you structure your scripts, develop long form comedic ideas and get your pitches ready to present to collaborators and commissioners.

Christine Entwisle will lead an informal session, in a question and answer format, where you will be able to ask her anything you like about writing for radio or her life attempting to be a writer and how it's been going so far! Christine has written for radio, theatre, comedy, the web, short film and has an option for a tv pilot. She won the Funny Women Writing Award in 2015.

Sally Holloway is the author of The Serious Guide to Joke Writing and in the eleven years she was on the comedy circuit, Sally was one of Britain's top female comics. Sally will be using these skills to teach you how to write innovative jokes to punch up your scripts.

Amy Mason will talk about moving from stand-up to having a comedy drama in development with BBC Studios. Amy will demystify getting an agent, meeting producers, coming up with saleable ideas, pitching, and that elusive first option. An invaluable and generous session taking you behind closed doors and leaving you with an insight into the pitching and development process. Amy was a finalist of the Funny Women Stage Award 2017/18.
