Donation Drive To Make Grab Bags For Relocating Foster Kids!!!!!! Eagle Scout Service Project

Life Scout Brianna Brady, the Senior Patrol Leader of Scouts BSA Troop 1150 in Sparta, NJ, the first Scouts BSA Troop for Girls in Sussex County, is working on completing her Eagle Scout Service Project, the last requirement that she needs to become an Eagle Scout.

Brianna's service project consists of collecting materials and making Grab Bags for children within the foster care system. These bags will be distributed to children when they first enter foster care or when they are relocated to a new home. These bags will help children adapt and feel more comfortable as they enter new and unfamiliar homes. Brianna chose to undertake this project because "I understand that foster kids often move with little to no possessions, and by giving these kids some basic necessities I hope that I can make their transition a little bit easier." Brianna added that "the grab bags will differ based on the age and gender of the child, but will generally include crafts, games, toys, books, snacks and toiletries (i.e., deodorant, toothpaste, toothbrushes, hairbrushes, etc.)"

Your help is requested by donating such items as:
Crafts;
Small toys;
Games;
Books;
New toiletries: deodorant, toothpaste, toothbrushes, hairbrushes, soap, shampoo;
Feminine hygiene products;
School supplies; and
Back packs.

Scouts and other volunteers will be operating collection sites on April 30th and May 27th as follows:

Sparta United Methodist Church, 71 S. Sparta Avenue, Sparta, New Jersey - April 30th from 2:00 - 6:00
Byram Township Municipal Building, 10 Mansfield Ave., Byram NJ - April 30th from 2:00 - 6:00 and May 27th from 12:00 to 5:00
Pope John XXIII Regional High School, 28 Andover Road, Sparta NJ - April 30th from 2:00 - 6:00 and May 27th from 12:00 - 6:00
Saint Kateri Roman Catholic Church, 427 Stanhope Sparta Road, Stanhope NJ - May 27th from 10:00 - 3:00.
