Building and certifying security-critical software in Canada
In a world where development cycles are measured in days or hours instead of months, how do we ensure that the pace of development isn’t outrunning our testing and that safety-critical and security-critical software is properly protecting human life and interests? When life and limb are on the line, we need to make sure that we not only have the right processes in place, but that we can also demonstrate to the public the we are taking to protect them. This presentation will discuss what the term software engineering means in Canada as well as when we need to follow a more rigorous approach to the development of security-critical software. We will also briefly touch on the shifting regulatory landscape that is driving these changes out to Canadian companies.
