If you have full citizenship of Italy e.g 10 years residency you can apply for an Italian passport.
You only need identity document to travel to schengen countries not a passport e.g France, Germany, Belgium, Netherlands etcetera etcetera
Visas are required for most African countries, USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and many others. you need to check each countries requirements before making travel arrangements.
I believe from 2024 UK will require an online request for entry but it's not strictly a visa.
