Heineken Urban Polo Auckland

Heineken is proud to announce it will be launching Urban Polo in New Zealand in February 2017.

The Heineken Urban Polo is set to be the event of the summer as a polo tournament showcasing a fusion of sport and music in the city, in a way that have never been seen in New Zealand before.

Polo, the sport of kings, will be played against an urban backdrop of Auckland and Wellington city for the first time. As well as witnessing the skill and pace of some of the world’s best polo players, the Heineken Urban Polo will feature a not-to-be-missed music line-up.

The defining features of Urban Polo compared to traditional polo are:

A significantly smaller playing field bringing the game closer to spectators with only 3 players from each team on the pitch at any one time.

The New Zealand version of Urban Polo will include two adrenaline-filled games of polo at each event enabling spectators the chance to view some of the world’s best polo players from the four teams.

This contemporary version of polo is currently played in three locations worldwide, London, Australia and New York; it has become a ‘hugely important event’ in London and has been described as the event of the year by Sydney media. Our New Zealand equivalent promises to bring even more with the combination of Urban Polo and an awesome musical line-up.
