The Polk County Medical Society Foundation's Volunteer Physician Network (VPN) is a unique program in the state of Iowa, offering free specialty healthcare services to Iowans at risk, low-income, uninsured, or underinsured, and living 200% below the federal poverty guidelines. Currently, almost 500 specialists from over 60 healthcare specialties participate in the network, with ongoing recruitment efforts.
VPN is the sole provider of free specialty healthcare services in Iowa, catering to individuals who are ineligible for government-funded programs and cannot afford necessary medical care. The program receives referrals from various healthcare organizations across the state and ensures that patients receive the specialized care they need without any financial burden.
