Ronan Guilfoyle’s ‘hands’

Brilliant Corners - a festival of jazz in Belfast is back with another incredible line-up featuring some of the most varied, exciting, and interesting music around.

Irish bassist Ronan Guilfoyle is one of the major figures in the Irish jazz scene, with an international reputation as both a musician and composer. Bringing together two of New York’s finest musicians; saxophonist Dave Binney and drummer Tom Rainey, and up-and-coming young Irish guitarist Chris Guilfolye, Hands is a project that combines composed music with freewheeling improvisation. The result is a brew of interweaving lines, deft counterpoints, and improvisational power - laden with groove, rhythm, and surprise.
It’s the outstanding musicianship that makes Hands immediately accessible. With repeat listens Hands reveals all kinds of hidden depths. It will be the live setting however where it really comes to life, and this is a prospect we can’t wait to experience.
