- I am Loise Jane Weiner. I'm born in Florida but I grow up in Africa. I am of Japanese descent. My mother and grandparents were survivors of the Hiroshima bombing. I grew up hearing tragic war stories - the ineffable devastation caused by the war. After the bombing, my grandparents, together with my mother, decided to live in Tokyo with their relatives. After 5 years of living in the city, the entire family moved to the United States. I know it's pretty ironic but life must go on.
