ITINERARY:

SATURDAY 25: MADRID – LA YECLA – SANTO DOMINGO DE SILOS – THE BOSSES FESTIVAL

Departure at 8:30 from Glorieta de Atocha (next to the Ministry of Agriculture – Paseo de la Infanta Isabel 3) towards the heart of Castile. Our first activity will take place in the Natural Park of La Yecla, which has the largest savin woods in the world. There we will take a short hike along the impressive La Yecla canyon with vertical walls and narrow passages. Santo Domingo de Silos celebrates a great festival, known as The Bosses Festival: galloping horses in the streets, torchlight and bonfires in the evening, all in a secular atmosphere; we will enjoy the festival with the local people. We will also have the opportunity to listen to the world famous Gregorian chants of the monks of Silos at 7 pm. Dinner and accommodation in Santo Domingo de Silos.

SUNDAY 26: SANTO DOMINGO DE SILOS – COVARRUBIAS – WINES IN THE HISTORY OF THE MONASTERIES - MADRID

After a nice breakfast to recover, we will travel towards one of the most beautiful villages in Castile, Covarrubias, where history and legend intertwine in an idyllic medieval landscape. Entering the tenth century tower of Fernán González will impress us, and maybe Doña Urraca’s ghost will meet us...Furthermore, we will be moved to hear the story that links Spain and Norway. To top off the visit, we will attend a very special wine tasting, that will cover the relation of the wines with the history of the monasteries.
