Bodyless Exhibition

Migration is messy...
Experience a journey through the collective exhibition of works by local artists who are trying to address the way the media portrays the human tragedy happening in front of us

Bodyless is an artistic project that is seeking to retell African migration narrative. Retelling is different to repeating. It means looking at all those narratives to try to figure out what has been missing from them. What have the media reports been leaving out? What people? What are the narratives that we have been deprived of?

The visual artists include Teresa Sciberras, Maxine Attard, Aaron Bezzina and Matthew Attard who are presenting works ranging from sculptures to installations alongside a Virtual Reality game developed specifically for this project by Sandro Spina in collaboration with the exhibition's curator, Glen Calleja.

The virtual reality experience within the exhibition which will present users with access to the world of asylum seekers fleeing their homelands. The user will be fully immersed in a voyage through a digital headset. This immersive experience is a serious game whose main aim is to provide some insight into the complexities underlying the migration crisis, an up close and personal experience beyond the theoretical, political or media spectacles with an emphasis on the journey.

In addition, ten educational Workshops will be provided to secondary school students during the mornings of the exhibition where their perceptions with regards to refugees and asylum seekers will be challenged(places are still available, please contact us for more information).

The project is coordinated by Kopin(VO/200) a local human and child rights organisation.
The project is supported by the Arts Council Malta- Malta Arts Fund, UNHCR, IOM(International Organisation for Migration), the United States Embassy in Malta.
