Carnival's Great Trip 2013 (February 9-10)

La Vera's Carnivals (Extremadura); Plasencia, Yuste
and beautiful towns; gastronomy, wines and a lot of fun
(February 9-10, 2013)

ITINERARY:

SAT 9: MADRID / PLASENCIA / GARGANTA DE LA OLLA / JARAIZ

Leaving at 8:30 from Glorieta de Atocha (next to Agriculture's Ministry), direction to the beautiful town of Plasencia, where besides discovering its ancient walls, its Jewish hood and castles and cathedrals, we will be visiting one of the best wine houses, including a tasting.

In the afternoon we will be heading Jaraiz de la Vera, where there's our nice rural hotel. Moreover, we will have the chance to know a coquette little town called Garganta de la Olla. After dinner, we will join the funny night of Carnival.

SUN 10: JARAIZ DE LA VERA / YUSTE / VALVERDE / VILLANUEVA / MADRID

After breakfast we will be going to Cuacos de Yuste to visit its German Military Cemetery and Yuste's Monastery, the last abode of Emperor Charles the first of Spain and fifth of Germany.

Afterwards we will stop at Valverde de la Vera, one of the nicest towns of the county, where we will be appealed by its architecture and taste some local gastronomy. Following that, we will direct ourselves to Villanueva de la Vera, where we will see the Peropalo parade on Carnivals's Gordo Sunday. There we will have free time to enjoy the local festivity and its unique atmosphere: a little bit frenetic and cheerful, until we head back to Madrid.
