Machynlleth Comedy Festival - April 29th - May 1st!

When we first talked about starting Machynlleth Comedy Festival above all else we wanted to create somewhere where people came to have fun, and get away from it all, whether this be the attendees, the comedians or the festival team.

It was all about taking a different approach with an aim of creating a spirit of experimentation and intimacy. We're passionate about the thrill of seeing live comedy in intimate places, and the glorious, picturesque and enchanting town of Machynlleth gave us a wealth of interesting and unique performance spaces in which to do this.

Most of all we want people to laugh, have a great time and find a warm welcome in the heart of Wales.

With hundreds of comedy shows and other events to choose from visit the website to see a full list and book tickets for the shows you want to attend. Shows do sell out, so we recommend to book tickets in advance. However, If you'd rather take your pick on the weekend, there is a festival box office at the Owain Glyndwr Centre selling tickets to all remaining shows, which are all located within 10 minutes walk of each other in the centre of town. You only buy a ticket for the show(s) you want to see, allowing you to go and watch as much or as little as you want across the weekend. There are dedicated family shows, including performances for young children, however, some shows are age restricted so please check before purchasing.

Apart from comedy there is plenty going on in the town…Our Beech Bar in the big top on the lawns of Y Plas has a free music programme which runs throughout the weekend, (not to mention our amazing 50 cask festiv-ale!). There are also free performances on the woodland pavilion, a free interactive family programme in our kids tent and other pop-up performances across the weekend.
