Ephrat Asherie Dance "Odeon"

Odeon, the company's newest work, brings together street and club dances-including breaking, hip-hop, house, and vogue-remixes them, picks them apart, and challenges them to inhabit unfamiliar spatial and choreographic contexts. Created by Ephrat and her brother, Ehud Asherie, this hybrid approach to movement is accompanied onstage by a jazz quartet playing the music of Brazilian composer Ernesto Nazareth, known for mixing early 20th century romantic music with samba and other popular Afro-Brazilian rhythms.
