8th Step presents legendary award-winning roots-bluesman GUY DAVIS in concert, introducing his Aug 23 album release "The Legend of Sugarbelly" at 7:30 pm, SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 14, 8th Step at Proctors (Addy Theatre), 432 State Street, Schenectady. His Eighth Step performance launches his tour across the U.S. and to The Netherlands.
American Roots, traditional Blues, Folk, Spoken Word, New Artistic Renaissance - Davis boils it all down to Blues. His mastery and love of the form and music introduced to him by his Southern grandmother shines through on Legend of Sugarbelly: vocals, 6 and 12-string guitar, harmonica, 5 and 6 string banjo, even didgeridoo.
The 13-song release by the Grammy-nominated legendary roots musician contains mostly originals and several blues classics from Leadbelly, Rev. Gary Davis, and Blind Lemon Jefferson.
