PowerSolo started in December of 1996 as the moniker for Kim 'Kix" Jeppesen's solo endeavors (Hank Robot). The first outing was at the reputed Aarhus venue Vestergade 58. This was a one-man show. Kim is cited as saying, "PowerSolo was just me, busking and playing apartment gigs," at the start.

In 1999, Kim's brother Bo "Atomic Child" Jeppesen joined the band on drums. In 1999 and 2000, the band recorded and toured supporting their debut release "Lemon Half Moon". Contributions to this album include Nick Sorento providing the lyrics for 'I'm Not Seventeen Anymore' and liner notes from Kim's close friend Sebastien Doubinsky. The group tours with Bob Log III, and has a chance meeting with Andre Williams on this tour. In 2001, the album was released on Copenhagen based label ESP/Kick. Critical reception of this album was tepid, with a number of positive reviews from intrigued critics being buried by a slurry of negative statements. PowerSolo continues to play tracks from this record live to this day, with Kim calling the tone of the album, "Very Anarchist in its expression."

The aforementioned meeting with Andre Williams occurred when PowerSolo, still then a duo, opened for him at Voxhall in Aarhus, Denmark. After a few exchanges backstage, Andre's tour manager summoned the duo to meet with Andre in his dressing room, where Andre then expressed an interest in recording a version of PowerSolo's number entitled "SLB". Two songs were recorded at Delta Lab in Denmark, however never surfaced due to Williams having a stint of ill health shortly after.
