İsviçre forumu < Why is it so hard to make friends in Switzerland??

    As a foreigner who lived in Switzerland during 18 years I have only one thing to say to all those foreigners who are unhappy living there:

    Just leave! it's easier to be happier elsewhere!!!

    I moved last year to Hong Kong and I knew more people in one year here than during the 18 years I lived in Switzerland... And the most amazing part is that I met 2 Swiss nationals living here (real Swiss from Swiss parents) and they both told me that they wish they never need to go back to Switzerland as they were happy living here. I have an other Swiss friend who is living in Bangkok and he is also very happy about the fact that he left Switzerland to establish a new life in Asia.

    There is a lot of literature in this forum giving reasons and excuses to the unwelcoming attitude of many Swiss towards foreigners, blaming on immigration and so on... It's all nonsense! there is no excuse for racism and intolerance! and no matter how many effort you put in trying to integrate the Swiss society, you will always be considered as a foreigner!!!

    Although Hong Kong is one of the most crowded cities on the planet. I felt much less pressure from the people here than I previously experienced in Switzerland. People just let you live in peace and if you make some kind effort to speak the local language you will get an even better service than a local citizen gets! in some way it's totally the opposite to what I have experienced in Switzerland.

    Living here I have one major problem! I don't have enough time to meet my friends and to join all the gatherings and available activities... Yet I will rather live with this problem than live in Switzerland again:)
