I've been there for classes, they are not promoting religion, but are promoting western and arab relations, ie getting to know eachother and our different cultures and how we can all live together.
I have many american friends as well as other nationalities who are taking classes there. I will still recommend it, has some good classes for arabic and an awesome Egyptian teacher.classes

Hi Tania,
i think i am a little late in joining the discussion but its never too late............
i am also very much interested in learning arabic and picking bits and pieces from here and there but now want to give it a serious try. pls also share with me if u r able to find some good institution / way out. meanwhile, in my free time, i explore the following site and have found it useful. writing down the address as other learners may also find this site useful.

I have a slightly different interpretation of that Mansoor. For me it means: They plan on having it done barring some unforseen hindrance that could be interpreted as God's intervention. Although it's easy to switch from one interpretation to the other. =)
"inshalla"

Well I guess the most common word you'll come across is "inshalla" which literally means god willing, so when you're dealing with someone and expect them to have something done for the next day, usually when they say "bukra inshalla" (tomorrow god willing) be sceptical as it often means they dont plan on having it done but SOMEHOW god will intervene and get it done for you....
Wajeed zen!

I try to learn the bad words first lol, just so I'm aware. Something I learned to do after my first trip to Paris.
Someone said to me that once you recognize where one is from from their arabic then you are already adept. . . well I'm nowhere near that but I can distinguish some Lebanese phrases from Kuwaiti.
Keep it up!
