Hi,
it looks like a huge change in your way of living if you really do it. Zakynthos is a great place to live if you like a relaxed life, nice scenery and sea.
I believe coming first for a visit,like you thinking, checking how things are is your best option.
You should also take under consideration the financial crisis here, that makes living here harder(at least for now), though US is having similar problems from what i read.Anyway, check it out first before you make your choises!
