Ayurveda - Yoga’s sister science - is a 5000-year-old holistic system of natural healing rooted in the ancient culture of India. Ayurveda is a science of life (Ayur = Life, Veda = Science or knowledge) guiding us towards vibrant physical, mental health and a deeper connection to our spiritual truth.
In this workshop, you will learn about the basic fundamentals of Ayurveda and Ayurvedic cooking. The six tastes of sweet, salty, sour, pungent, bitter and astringent and how we incorporate all six tastes in a balanced meal. Each of the 6 tastes has different healing qualities and effects on the body. When they are combined together into a complete and balanced meal, they will bring harmony (and satisfaction!) to the body and our digestive system.
This is a hands-on workshop where we will be cooking together so you can learn how to make Ayurvedic meals at home. The workshop will begin with a mini-meditation to centre the body and calm the mind. During the workshop we explore:
- Fundamentals of Ayurveda
- Food combining
- Incorporation of the 6 tastes
- Planning balanced meals that satiate
- How to eat to support and strengthen our digestion
Before we eat, we will stoke our agni (digestive fire) with an Ayurvedic appetiser and then we will sit down and enjoy the food we prepared together with an intuitive eating practice.
Our workshop fee includes the cost of your organic meal and herbal tea (value $20).
