LIFT EVERY VOICE IN LOVE features Broadway, Metropolitan Opera and 12 Years A Slave film artist Roosevelt Andre Credit in a concert celebrating the legacy of African-American music with a dash of love. "Roo" is an exuberant performer with a joyful Spirit and profoundly gifted voice. The bass-baritone will sing Gospel, Spirituals, Broadway and original tunes, including Ol' Man River, which he performed at Town Hall in New York to great critical acclaim. Roo will be joined by Lara MacLean, a violinist from Minneapolis, and his accompanist Margaret K. Jellison. Also on the program is the newly formed Beloved Des Moines Community Chorus directed by Ben Allaway, and the House Wide Open Band of First UMC where Allaway is director of music.
Part of the new MUSIC UNDER THE DOME Global Music Series at First United Methodist, there is FREE RESERVED SEATING. Register at www.dmfirstchurch.org. A love offering will be received to support this new music program for the community.
