    So what are the immigration/emigration requirements for someone who wants to move to the Azores from the United States? I noticed that there are a few Americans here that have done it and am curious about what the process is. Are you just there on an extended visa? If so what are the rules? Can someone on a visa actually purchase a house or property? For reference my grandparents on my mother's side came to America from Terciera and located in Stonington, CT where they hunted lobster for a living which I suspect is what the did back in the Azores (or were fishermen. Not sure if there are lobsters in that area.) The family name in the Azores was Pimental.
