What does your job contract say regarding resignation notice. Do you have a copy of your resignation, proof that you have given resignation notice? Speak to an authority regarding this, the labour department or immigration department to get information on your rights and responsibilities in relation to resignation and job change. If the law gives to freedom to change job (by giving the resignation notice) then your employer shouldn't be able to force you to continue working. Whether he finds a replacement or not is not your responsibility. Your responsibility is to give the resignation notice and fulfill the requirements of the contract / law.
