Review of Kuwait

Posted in Kuwait forum

I just returned from a long stay in Kuwait, and I can't begin to think of a starting point to rant about my experience.
I was in Kuwait for one full year. I stayed in Salmiya, at a fairly nice residence. From the moment I arrived, I was appalled at how many of the expats and foreign nationals were treated by the Kuwaiti nationals. My observation merely reinforced the idea that the Americans are only in the country for the security of the oil, and not to maintain the relations with the Kuwaiti nationals.
After interviewing several western nationals, it was quite evident that Kuwait is a country that the Arab Community turns a blind eye to when it comes to human rights violations. If a woman has been hired in the Philippines as a receptionist or a bank executive, she will most certainly find herself being used as an abused maid or a sex slave, as this was my findings in several cases.
In conclusion, Kuwait is by far one the worst places to ever except a job. Some of my fellow Jordanians believe that if there was a nation of infidels and hypocrites it would be known as Kuwait.

working here for almost 7yrs, Kuwaiti Family my first employer royal family. They are good as long as their not hurting me physically, I am just a maid so they treat as a maid, asking their needs, prefering their staff, food, clothes, and must work as long as they are awake. The 4 storey house with elevator and 385 step stairs must clean every morning,We are 4 servant in the house And my responsibility is to take care of 3boys who are very naugthy, and to clean there huge rooms including the bathrooms with big bathtub. To clean the basement were the children are playing with a lot of toys like a toyland. which i need to tidy after them. Giving them a bath feeding them, and letting them to sleep, i cant sleep if they are still up untill 1am. There parents ddnt let them sleep early if they dont hve their skul, Must wake up 5am to prefer the children to skul. I cant imagine how life they will have if they dont have us (maid). But u know they dont appreciate of our work which i know that they even dont know how to take care of there children. Our salary is just like they bought a xpensive shirt form the signature dapartment store with cost 45kd. hmmm as for now i never feel sorry for my past experienced because ive learned so many things from them, like being patient, i know now im a strong woman. That i know they need me more than i need them, To many children will like to have me as their nanny, to many parent will like to have me as their servant, becoz I know im a good person. And to many story that i must tell u but its too long, lol...... bye for now and good nyt. take care and sweet dreams

Can you tell me more about your experience with Americans? What do you mean when you say that they are only here for the security of the oil? Meaning that they do no respect the customs of the country? I'm curious, I've been here two years and have never heard that, but I'm interested to hear your perspective. Personally, we're treated second rate by the Kuwaitis as well, but I think I have to expect that as a guest in a country that is not my own. I always miss home and Kuwait will never be home, but I think I've been treated well for the most part here. And Cristy, I'm glad you worked for a good family. Were they Kuwaiti?
