your greek speling is correct.as a former respondent stated algos is pain.the word is also used to indicate a metaforic meaning of the word pain . as an example when we use the word nostalgia in english we are using the words NOSTOS and ALGOS that ia pain for the return or we would like to go back in time to a time that we miss and that currently it is aching us that we are not there.by itself the word nostos is retung to our roots return to our hometown.
