Publisert i Tyskland forum
Many of my foreign friends who live in Germany complain that Germans are very rude - or at least unfriendly.
Obviously, as a German myself I don't really experience us that way. But I would like your opinion: Are we really as cold as some people say????

Ive been in Germany, and i can say that, for sure, germans are one of the most honest and friendly people ive ever met! :)

That is exactly how I would see it, when someone tells to me something like smart German, it could also mean smart but the others I've met are not, or smartass. Words can carry a lot of slightly different connotations when I hear something like that I try to be naive and say thank you. So that the other side cannot start making any further comments.
I mean liberal in a wider sense i don't mean social conservatism which is seen in Germany as extremly right-wing, I mean social liberal, liberal meaning no state regulation the people care about everything. A more individual society in a calvinistic sense. Everyone is above the state. But enough with that. G.M., the more writing to you and reading about you, the more I lose confidence in Germany and our working situation because you are a really smart, intelligent guy who is wheighing his word for a long time in order not to say something that offends others (sorry this is a German idomatic expression). I really cannot understand why a person like you cannot get the job, you want to have. I wish once more good luck and endurance.And yes, Laurie you are right. You should discuss this matter which is interesting but extremely personal somewhere else. So good luck. And stay the way you are, it was quite a "delightful" discussion. Bye.
