I’ve seen the notes on Kuwait, Americans, oil politics. Been here since 2003 and I heard of abuses by Kuwaitis. Maids, from Philippines and other countries are abused, even killed. Their government and embassy are responsible for the continuing disregard of its citizen’s rights and failing to protect and safeguard them. As long as the rich and powerful (not only here but in the world) continue to break laws, abuse servants and go unpunished, yet rewarded by having their foreign servants and helpers replenished, nothing will be accomplished to help those who work for them. Why this happens? The servant’s government officials are paid off, the government gets large amount of money from the transactions. So they look the other way. It’s like the movie Blood Diamond with Leonardo di Caprio but instead of diamonds, we’re talking something more precious, humans and human dignity.

Americans abusing Kuwait hospitality. It happened many times. We’ve Americans in Kuwait prisons for vehicular homicide, drugs and alcohol, many instances of fights, lack of respect, like flipping the middle finger to a Kuwaiti with his family in tow. Do all American do that? Of course not, the percentage is very low. Now these problems have being reduced, companies started backgrounds checks on all employees and police background checks are sent to the Kuwait embassy in the US for approval which greatly slows down the process.

“Guarding the oil.” Millions of people believe: ‘American troops are in the Middle East to protect oil interest.’ I hope our sons and daughters were not put in harm’s way, fighting and dying, and do mention the thousands maimed and scarred for life, so we can put gas in our cars. In the US, Alaska specially, we’ve more oil than we will ever use, not including off shore rigs, the many oil partnership with Saudi Arabia, England, the Russian Federation, etc. There is more oil worldwide than realized, even Cuba produces oil. We’re in the Middle East because one day the unthinkable happened, a group of people commandeered civilian airplanes and flew them down, killing thousands of civilians of every gender, age, race and religion. As I write, Iran's government plans to annihilate millions of humans in Israel and to expand their borders by taking over countries in the region, using terrorists like Hezbollah, they’re even Kuwait. This is no secret. Yes, we’re guarding but you can bet is not the oil…

Hope the above, in some way, clears some pre-concepts. I thank Kuwait for their hospitality, kindness and tolerance. After all, we are a guess and I’m glad we were a big part of their liberation efforts, wishing them a happy celebration of the Golden Jubilee of the Independence of Kuwait (20th anniversary of liberation and 5thanniversary of the ascendance of H.H. The Amir to the leadership of Kuwait).
