    teaching in Luxembourg

posted by  Aly Jr in Luxembourg forum

To teach i ay state school in Luxembourg you must speak Luxembourgish fluetly .As katy said 'she's told me that you must be able to communicate in Luxembourgish to teach in one of the public schools here. As far as I understand, fluency is not essential.' That was i the past when many people did not know about the job prospect in the country .Now the competition is very high .
Can you immagine a Luxembourger who does not speak fluent english comming to teach in a British or America state school .Does that work ?. The same applies to Luxembourg .People repeat old stories from the 80 s. Lots of things has changed here .
To teach in state school you must speak ,French ,German, and Luxembourgish very well .If even you are goig to teach english lagauage. To secure ay goverment job i Luxembourg as a civile servat you must speak the three languages very well, .Even to work as a cleanner .
The case Katy reffer to may be old school ,In the past and this could be private school .The olnly place I know that people got jobs like that was 12 years ago ;possibly the state language school .Then you are oblige to learn Luxembourgish withing a limmited time.It is ipossible to get a job in the public sector without knowledge of Luxembourgish ,French ad German
