Don't be discouraged, Learning Russian is as easy as ABC.
I know for those who've been in Russia for many years without speaking Russian, it may sound funny but the fact is that if you get the right teacher who gets methodology, will you you what you want within 3-6 months.
It wored for me and I know what I'm saying. Get a professional and your basic Russian knowledge is guaranteed.
